It appears increasingly like no self-respecting AAA title would be without some form of Horde mode, so why would you expect Future Soldier to be any different? Ubisoft have provided some details about why they decided to include the Guerrilla mode:. Most of these will be necessary to make your way through the 12 hour single-player campaign, which offers plenty of variety and opportunities for badassery.

While most of this stuff isn’t seeing wide use on today’s battlefields–making the “future” designator entirely accurate–it’s hard to get excited about tech that’s already prevalent in plenty of other video games. Having a fancy HUD might be mind-blowing if you’re running through a real-life sandstorm while hunting down enemies, but with the way it’s displayed in Future Soldier, it just feels like any other game with any other modern HUD.

In some aspects Future Soldier manages to keep up with the competition, and it others it falls behind. Old school Ghost Recon fans will not be happy with Future Soldier. The game is more linear than any other title in the series, and the squad management seen in past games is gone. This allows your team to simultaneously take out an entire squad of enemies without making a sound. Your Ghosts are also more independent now. They can hold their own and rarely need to be revived during combat.

Lets not forget when the HVT gets picked and he or she is surrounded by enemies or my favorite one actually getting shot. I got picked as the HVT while i was getting shot by two guys and bam easy points. That’s the problem with random objectives. Ubisoft needs to have it set to where it choose the soldier who is not in combat, if everyone is in combat.

Then the game needs to let the team know that it is going to chose a HVT.

Much like playing the campaign with human allies, multiplayer is far more challenging and punishing than other shooters. Its focus on objectives more than individual stats make team play crucial, so playing with experienced friends is the requirement for continued success — since matchmaking will often put players on a team that is, as a result, far less organized.

What I got instead was an ill-conceived series of disjointed missions and cut scenes, poorly rendered and seemingly without a single common thread until the last few of the game’s 13 campaign missions.
